Facilitating JCI’s Local Officer Training for 2024: Leadership Development & Fun
On September 18th, 2024 I was recognized at JCI Canada's National Convention for this weekend-long leadership retreat as the "Best Training Opportunity of the Year" in Canada for JCI Members.
Customized Leadership Learning
On November 4th, 2024, I had the privilege of facilitating JCI’s Local Officer Training in Fairmont Hot Springs, BC, for the incoming 2024 Board of Directors of the Kootenay, Kelowna, Penticton, and Vernon chapters. The day was filled with leadership learning, collaboration, and plenty of laughs, as we worked together to prepare these new leaders for their upcoming roles.
Using JCI Canada’s strategic plan, I designed an interactive training day that aligned with the goals and challenges of each local chapter. I worked closely with the incoming executives to ensure the content was relevant, engaging, and actionable.
Training Highlights:
Strategic Planning: Guided the group through understanding JCI’s strategic plan and how to apply it to their local chapters.
Team-building Exercises: Activities focused on strengthening communication, trust, and collaboration, essential skills for effective leadership.
Interactive Sessions: Each segment was designed to be fun, engaging, and informative, offering both learning and practical takeaways.
Special Thanks:
Craig, Jasper, and Liz Matejka – For their insightful training sessions on financial management, the Senate, and the National Board. Your contributions were invaluable in enriching the experience for all attendees.
Fairmont Hot Springs Resort – A perfect location to host this event. Not only was it a conducive environment for learning, but the hot pools offered a relaxing way to reflect and connect after a productive day.
Key Takeaways:
The day was designed to not only develop leadership skills but also foster a sense of community and connection among the attendees. Participants left with a deeper understanding of their roles and responsibilities, as well as new tools to implement in their chapters. Importantly, each group walked away with a clear plan for their year ahead, including strategies to keep themselves accountable. A midway check-in was also scheduled to help reassess their progress, allowing for adjustments and ensuring they stay on track toward achieving their goals.
It was a great pleasure to be part of this transformative day. Thank you to the JCI Kootenay, JCI Kelowna, JCI Penticton, and JCI Vernon teams for your enthusiasm and engagement. I’m excited to see the great work you all will accomplish in 2024!
