Launching Lodgepole Leadership: A New Chapter in Leadership Development

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been inspired by the natural world and the way it mirrors the dynamics of leadership and teamwork. Like the lodgepole pine, which thrives in harsh conditions and supports entire ecosystems, strong leadership has the power to create resilience, foster growth, and sustain communities. It is this understanding—rooted in my years of experience in adventure programming, community building, and leadership development—that led me to take a bold step forward and officially launch Lodgepole Leadership in 2023.

Lodgepole Leadership is more than a consulting business; it’s a culmination of my passion for empowering individuals and teams to step into their full potential. Through decades of working with diverse groups, from corporate teams to nonprofits, First Nations communities, and youth organizations, I’ve seen firsthand how intentional leadership can inspire change, build trust, and foster growth. My mission with Lodgepole Leadership is to help others harness their own leadership potential while staying grounded in values of connection, sustainability, and purpose.

Why Lodgepole Leadership?

The lodgepole pine is a fitting metaphor for the kind of leadership I want to inspire. Found throughout British Columbia, this tree thrives after wildfires, regenerating in tough conditions and providing the foundation for new growth. Similarly, I believe that effective leadership emerges when we lean into challenges, embrace the discomfort of growth, and find strength in collaboration.

My approach blends elements of outdoor adventure programs, land-based leadership principles, and coaching strategies to help individuals and teams achieve their goals. Whether it’s developing a thriving workplace culture, navigating change, or taking on a bold new vision, I’m here to support leaders in building something that lasts.

The Journey That Brought Me Here

Launching Lodgepole Leadership has been a journey shaped by decades of learning, doing, and growing. My work with Columbia Outdoor School gave me the privilege of leading programs that connect people with nature, foster sustainability, and teach about the impacts of our actions on the environment. I’ve collaborated with ʔaq̣'am, supporting leadership and governance that empower their community to lead in their own ways.

My experiences with Junior Chamber International (JCI) showed me the power of mentorship, collaboration, and creating spaces where emerging leaders can thrive. From hosting national conferences to developing award-winning leadership programs, I’ve learned that the best leaders are those who bring others along on the journey.

These experiences, coupled with my certification in leadership coaching and my ongoing studies toward a Master’s in Executive Leadership at Royal Roads University, have deepened my commitment to creating transformational learning opportunities for leaders at every level.
